Playing in the snow.

Typically Trent has not liked the snow and has even cried when we tried putting him in it or even not letting us put him down. We thought we would try again this year because we have soooooo much snow right now. Calla wanted to go out but we wouldn't let her.

Trent and Daddy playing in the snow. Although it doesn't look like it he really didn't like being out in the snow and wouldn't bend down to touch it.

Trent pooped on the potty!

Trent pooped on the potty for the very first time today and here he is with Papi Steve getting his treat after he went. We have been working very hard at potty training and this morning he woke up dry and went pee and then this afternoon he went poop. What a successful day!

Christmas in Cedar Falls

We spent our Christmas in Cedar Falls this year and it has been so much fun and so relaxing for everyone. Brian, the kids and I drove to Dad's house on Christmas Eve in the blowing snow and got there and got everyone settled. After the kids went to bed I went to my Dad's Christmas Eve service and then put our gifts out and waited for Santa. Trent even put out reindeer food for Santa's reindeer!

Trent's 3rd birthday party

Trent's third birthday party was on Saturday the 13th and he turned 3 on Sunday the 14th. He had such a blast at his party. All our family and friends came and helped him celebrate with a Cars themed party. It's hard to believe that my little man is 3 years old. It makes it seem like he is such a little boy now rather than a toddler or a baby.
Here he is the morning after his party playing with his new Mater pillow!
Trent and Aunt Juju made a Lightning McQueen out of playdoh after the party was all over. He loved it!

Here he is blowing out the candles!

A picture of the table full of goodies and his cake. That's also his 3 year preschool picture. He looks so grown up with his faux hawk!

And his cake - no I didn't make it but I know how to pick a great place that can!

Christmas is in the air

It's starting to look a lot like Christmas around our house! We got the trees, stockings and all other Christmas decor up this weekend and it really looks great. We've only had one ornament incident but it really wasn't Trent's fault that it broke so no big deal. Brian and I also started hanging some pictures and getting Trent's room ready to paint so that he can have his big boy room all ready when he turns 3 in two weeks. Lots of stuff going on and celebrating to do in the next month!

Sunday nights

Both Trent and Calla love Sunday nights. Sometimes it's the only night we spend together as a family because of all of our activities. I let them wear jammies all afternoon and evening and we just hang out and watch lots of cartoons, movies and play. Here are some pictures from last Sunday night before we headed to the ER with Trent. (He stuck a Q tip in his ear and made it bleed really bad and because of his tubes and slight hearing loss, Brian and I freaked out and went to the hospital to make sure nothing was wrong)

Trick or Treating

The kids definitely had fun trick or treating this year. We didn't do a lot of house to house trick or treating but went to Grandma and Grandpa's houses. They both got plenty of candy though! Which means more for me! Every year since Trent was a baby I've bought Halloween pajamas to wear under the costume so that when my trick or treater crashes at the end of the night all I have to do is strip off the costume and they're ready for bed. This year was no different and boy did they love those jammies!

Preschool Halloween Party

Trent's Preschool Halloween Party was yesterday morning and the kids had a blast! I don't have any pictures cause I wasn't there but the note I got from his teachers made it sound like such a good time. The kids all dressed up in their costumes and "trick or treated" around the center and had cookies and juice. All the parents were instructed to bring a bag of candy for the kids to collect around the center and to sign up for cookies, cups, napkins, or juice. Wouldn't you know it, I got cookies! I didn't have time to bake cookies so I went up to Sweetheart Bakery and picked up some Monster shaped sugar cookies with lots of frosting! The kids loved them and the teachers were secretly hating me until I told them I had enough for them too! What a fun time in Trent's life right now, he's really starting to grow up and be a big boy!

Pumpkin carving

We did some pumpkin carving at Grandma and Grandpa Thompson's house last night. Trent is never very sure of the pumpkin innards but likes to help when he can. He mostly just likes to watch you carve it out but was more attentive this year than last year. After it was all finished Trent, Calla, Natalie and Brian all sat around it in the living room while we took pictures of them. We should probably carve our pumpkins at home sometime this week before Halloween but I just hate the mess!

cloth diapers

We've started doing cloth diapers at home with Calla to help the environment, help her sore little bottom and to help our bottom line! These are just a cute sampling of some of the diaper covers she has. I love that little fluffy bum!

Pics!

Here are some recent pics of the kids. I know I'm horrible about blogging lately but I vow to be better! This one above is from the pumpkin patch.
